In a show of utter flexibility and humbleness, the Republic of Korea agreed to support its fellow bidder the State of Qatar, as the host destination for COP 18/ CMP 8. Every year the COP is hosted by a different region, next year's event is dedicated to the Asian Region of which Qatar will now host.

The show of humble co-operation and working together reflects on the ability of humans at basic levels to work together in a show of camaraderie. Korea will host all pre-COP 18 meetings and activities.

UNFCCC Executive Secretar, Christiana Figueres, congratulated the two nations and their co-ooperation and committment and leadership integrity that should be extended to the entire COP process. "All governments working together on the next essential climate steps can be inspired by this collaborative spirit," she added.

COP 17 President, SA Minister Ms Maita Nkoana-Mashabane also congratulated Qatar and Korea, inspired by them and was hopeful about the outcomes saying: "whatever seems impossible in the negotiations can be done".
